Editing is small in comparison to a lot of big name
‘star’ videos. This has been done purposefully so to emphasize the bands image
of youth.
Fade – shows the passing of time and possibly
represents the dream that the characters are having. Through the mise-en-scene
we see a series of random images that don’t make any sense next to one another.
This has been done to put emphasis on the ‘dreaming’ aspect of the song.
Mise-en-scene shows us a big open, natural & quiet
area in which people could find themselves in a dream. To reveal this shot, the
camera pans down slowly showing more and more of the situation to the audience,
keeping them glued to the screen as they aren’t sure what’s coming next.
Editing – The graphics and use of CGI here is high but
not great quality. This may have been done, as stated before, to emphasize and
create the feeling that the band is youthful and childlike. Also, it seems like
something strange you would witness in a dream.
Sound – The digital sounds created give the song a
happy tone with a quick beat and a high pitched voice, the music begins to
sound very childlike and innocent despite the video having some images of death
as you can see from the screenshot.
