Props List

For our music video we will require a certain amount of props in order to make it look as visually interesting and realistic as possible. The characters and main act in the video require their own unique props. The balcony scene and the four rooms that will be set up, also need their own unique props. I have put together a short list of the main props that I know we will need in order to make the viedo successful. 

Characters:

Transvestite: Make Up, Bra, Casual Jeans & Women's Necklace.

The Cooking Lady:  Eggs, Apron, Spatular, Frying Pan, Insects & Stove Cooker

Food Boy: Moldy food, old table, small clothes, fork, knife, plate, salt, pepper

 

Slut: Boob-tube, short shorts, football socks, high hells, broken mirror, make up, pictures of model boys & herself etc. 

Black Eyed Girl: Make up for a black eye & pull over hoodie.

SIA: Tight fit white dress, white pumps, rings etc. 

Room 1: Kitchen cooker, table, plate, forks, knives, moldy food, rubble, ripped wallpaper. 

Room 2: Bare brick wall, weedy sofa, house lamp, old carpet, lots of rubbish. 

Room 3: Old office desk, broken light, piles of paperwork, coffee cup with slogan

Room 4: Typical girl bedroom, hundreds of pictures, broken mirror, small desk with stool, lots of clothes on the floor. 

Rooftop: Contrete lookalike slabs, railings, green screen.

9:00am - 11:30: Leah Chapman, lead singer (IVY) - studio.

11:30 - 1:00pm: Izzy Hardie, (Boudoir Girl) - studio.

1:00pm - 2:00pm: Lunch.

2:00pm - 3:00pm: Peter Bergin, (Transvestite) - studio.

3:00pm - 4:00pm: Xenia Petley, (Beaten Girl) - studio.

Progression With The Music Video

Where We’re Going to Shoot Our Video: 

We are going to shoot all of our video in the studio in Hurtwood House School. We are going to eight different rooms and a balcony scene against the green screen. The image that’ll be placed on the green screen will be a view of the London skyline. In order to get the shot, I will travel to Primrose Hill in North East London to get a good shot that we could possibly use.

Set Design:

We have taken the inspiration for our set design from the Die Antwood video for ‘I FINK U FREEKY’. In the videos there are strangely decorated rooms and decayed walls. We want to apply the same principle to our video to conform to our dominant ideologies surrounding our narratives. Sia will be placed on the rooftop which will also have a decayed look to it and a railing edge.

Who We Want (Main Actress & Extras):

Georgina Morton we want to use as our lead singer. Some of the extras we would like to use as the best alternative will be from within the school, students & possibly some teachers. Alternatively we could hire professional actors from internet pages. However, we have to think about our budget and what is affordable with what we have left from what we have already spent.

Research Into Institutional Context

My group and I decided that we didn't wish to make IVY's institutional context one of a high caliber. Looking at the hardware and software we have to shoot the video, such as the Sony F100 Camera and Final Cut Pro, we knew that to create a really professional looking product would be very difficult. Therefore, we have decided to create IVY's institutional context as one that is of a niche business. The quality of the video that we expect to produce, will therefore directly reflect the financial status and power within the music industry of her institution. We have decided to sign her to her own record company that we created ourselves for the project known as, "IVY Music Productions (c)".

We researched institutions of small and large labels that hold small and large stars. For example, Sony Music Entertainment & Universal Music Group are large institutions, whilst Sia Music (the original artist for our song) & Island Records are examples of smaller labels.

Where We're Going to Shoot the Video

All of our music video will be shot in the studio with created sets. Inspiration for the sets of the outcast characters have been inspired by the video 'I FINK U FREEKY' - Die Antwood. For the eight characters that we have we will have possibly eight different rooms for each of the characters. 

Not only did we take inspiration for the 

characters from this video, but also the 

design of the set. Putting our actors in 

rooms that look out of place to every-

day society and therefore possibly more 

visually interesting. It also follows one 

of our key themes which is social out-

casting in society.  

Ivy's (Sia) will also be filmed in the studio, however on a completely different set which will consist of a balcony with a view over London shot against the green screen. To get a good shot of London, I will personally travel to Primrose Hill on the North East Side to film the skyline.
